February is heart health month, and what better way to observe it than to learn some new ideas for eating well? Holly Nickels, a dietician from the Summit cardiac rehab program will speak about some easy, interesting and fun ideas in the kitchen.
Holly Nickels is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 30 years of experience in the field of foods and nutrition. She is a native Montanan who graduated from Montana State University and completed her Dietetic Internship at University of California Extension, Berkeley, California.
Holly has worked as a food service director and clinical dietitian in California, Idaho, Nevada, and Montana. Since 2005, she has worked at the Summit, where she specializes in cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation and the Journey to Wellness program. In addition she regularly presents on nutrition and offers cooking demos and supermarket tours.
Holly’s passion is helping her clients navigate the confusing, conflicting, and ever-changing world of nutrition and food. She believes that “food is medicine” and that changing one’s perceptions and outlook toward food is the most important part of a good and healthy life. Her goal is to help her clients focus on nutrition and lifestyle behaviors that are realistic, practical, and economical.
