The Immanuel Lecture Series: Improving Lives with Technology
Join us on the third Friday of each month when we host a variety of stimulating speakers on a range of topics. Immanuel Lutheran Communities is pleased to offer this series as a means of sharing the Abundant Life Program to not only of the residents of our community, but to our neighbors throughout the Flathead Valley.
Improving Lives with Technology, a presentation from MonTech
Housed at the University of Montana, MonTECH connects consumers, program staff, educators, and service providers to ensure that Montanans with disabilities have equitable access to assistive technology. During this presentation, MonTECh’s Outreach Coordinator, Shawna Hanson, will provide information on MonTECH’s assistive technology loan program. She’ll bring equipment that can assist with impaired hearing, low vision and blindness, and memory issues. After she explains the program’s mission and the process for accessing services, Shawna will demonstrate some MonTECH equipment and offer lecture attendees the opportunity to try out some assistive devices.
As the mother of a nonverbal teenager who relies on assistive technology to communicate, Shawna has seen firsthand the difference technology can make in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. She is excited to be working with a team dedicated to providing Montanans with this life-changing technology and she looks forward to sharing information about devices that can enhance the lives of seniors.
